A weekly city tour (3 days/2 nights)

TOUR PROGRAM

1st day (Friday)
Arrival at Istanbul, accomodation at the hotel. Free time. Individual tours upon request.

2nd day (Saturday) – Breakfast. Istanbul city tour:

Suleymaniye Mosque – the most beautiful mosque in Istanbul. This exquisite religious complex is located on the picturesque coast of the Golden Horn Bay. Inside the mosque there are the mausoleums of Sultan Suleyman, his wife Hurrem (known in the west as Roksolana), and the famous architect Sinan.

The Egyptian Bazaar – a spice bazaar located near Yeni Cami (the New Mosque). In ancient times spice brought by Egyptians was sold here.
 
Bosphorus boat trip – Bosphorus is the legendary strait separating Europe from Asia. Among the trees growing on the Bosphorus coast one will enjoy seeing little wooden mansions and Ottoman fortresses.
 
The Yeditepe Hill – It is located on the Asian side of Istanbul. The hill is one of the highest points of the city. From the observation deck of Yeditepe one can see a breathtaking city view.

Further, you will cross the strait across the Bosphorus Bridge and arrive at the Galata part of Istanbul.

The Topkapi Palace – This palace was the government center of the Ottoman Empire in 15 - 19th century AD. There are numerous pavillions, kitchen, harem, library, treasury and other facilities in the palace. Exhibited here are unique ceramics, golden, silver items, gems and a priceless collection of ancient manuscripts and relics.
   
The Hippodrome Square – the 2nd largest hippodrome in the Roman Empire, only smaller than that in Rome. This was an important social life centre of Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman Empires; nowadays it is a magnificent open air museum.

Sultan Ahmet’s Mosque – one of the world’s biggest mosques with 6 minarets. It carries the name “Blue Mosque” due to exquisite blue ceramics finish on its walls.

Hagia Sophia – the world’s 4th biggest Christian temple built in 4th century AD. It is a unique creation of the Byzantine architecture, housing ancient frescos and the Byzantine mosaics.

3rd day (Sunday) – Breakfast. Sunday tour:

Dolmabahce Palace – an amazing palace complex with numerous luxurious rooms surrounded by a wonderful garden. The palace’s interior items comprise a unique collection of handicrafts.
Dolmabahce was the residence of Ataturk. He spent his last days here

The Vlacherna Church – one of the most important Orthodox churches. Our Lady’s icon, carried by Constantinople citizens on the city walls during sieges, is stored in this church.

Patriarchate – was announced to be the universal Patriarchate in the beginning of 17th century. Saints’ relics are stored in the main cathedral. Religious ceremonies still take place here on holidays.

The Eyup Mosque – is located at the foot of the Eyup Hill. Sultan Eyup’s mausoleum and arictocratic tombs are located inside this mosque.

The Eyup Hill – one can enjoy the magnificent view of the Halic (the Golden Horn), the Bosphorus and the ancient castle walls from this hill. A little cosy coffee house “Pierre Loti”, named so after a famous French writer, is also located here.
Transfer to airport.
